How To Clean Your Windows
As winter turns to spring, increasing the natural light through your windows can have a huge impact on your mood. Cleaning your windows inside and out is a really easy way to increase the light in your space.
Two options for cleaning solution: a standard glass cleaner (e.g.: Windex), or a vinegar solution of two parts water & one part vinegar. You can also add some lemon juice to neutralize the vinegar smell and boost the cleaning power with citrus.
Outdoor Cleaning
- Rinse the glass with water from the hose.
- Wipe down the window with a microfiber cloth.
- Spray with the glass cleaner or vinegar solution. Let sit for 5 minutes to work into any stubborn dirt.
- Wipe with a wet mop and follow with a squeegee or microfiber cloth. Be careful not to scrub with a material too abrasive that will scratch the surface.
Indoor Cleaning
- Clean the outside of the window first so that when you are cleaning the inside, you can see the streaks and spots.
- Use a clean cloth and wipe off the window surface to clear away any dust. Always work top to bottom.
- Spray the surface with the glass cleaner or vinegar solution. Try for an even mist layer.
- Use a squeegee to prevent streaks, starting from the top and working towards the bottom. If you don’t have a squeegee, use a microfiber cloth to wipe side to side.
Enjoy the noticeable increase in light coming into your space.
